February’s theme at Leslie’s Music Studio was about Sharing the Love of Music, inspired by Valentine’s Day of course. I asked my piano students an important question this month: “What do you love about music?” I enjoyed hearing their responses and was proud of their thoughtful answers. Here’s what some of my students wrote:
No matter how bad of a day you’re having, music can always make you feel better.
I love learning to play music fluently and awesomely!
Music expresses feelings that just can’t be expressed through words.
I love how you can create your own music.
That you can take it wherever you go.
How it can inflict different emotions with each tone.
I love how music sounds and how I can learn it at my own pace.
There is no barrier between language and culture when it comes to music.
It thrills my heart to hear that students love “learning to play music fluently and awesomely!” That means I’m doing my job as their teacher. But it means just as much to me knowing that their lives are being positively impacted by their study of piano at the level of the heart – “music can always make you feel better.” Life long value is what this is all about.
So, What do you love about music?
