Music, Community & Connection

Today, my studio is based at Village Music Academy, a beloved music cooperative in the heart of Prairie Village. Formerly known as the Toon Shop, the business first opened its doors in 1948 and has been a part of the community for more than 75 years. Generations of local families have walked through those doors to learn, create, and grow through music—and I’m proud to be part of that continuing tradition.

My career extends beyond private piano instruction. I also serve as the pianist for the Olathe West High School choir program and teach summer piano camps at The Barstow School in Kansas City, where I introduce young students to the fundamentals of music through engaging, hands-on experiences.

What I love most about my career is that music gives me the opportunity to connect with people in so many different ways. Whether I’m teaching a first piano lesson, accompanying a choir, helping a student prepare for a performance, or creating a memorable experience at a summer camp, I believe music has the power to build confidence, bring people together, and make a lasting impact.

For me, being a music teacher is about much more than teaching notes and rhythms—it’s about creating meaningful experiences and helping people discover something they can carry with them for a lifetime.

Kawai Piano Gallery
Kawai Piano Gallery has supported Leslie’s Music Studio through print advertising in our piano recital programs, providing the company with direct visibility among local families and music enthusiasts.

Dolce Bakery
Dolce Bakery partnered with my studio by providing gourmet cookies for our recital reception in exchange for advertising. The collaboration allowed us to enhance the student and family experience while giving Dolce Bakery exposure to our community.

Summer Salt Ice Cream
Summer Salt Ice Cream and Leslie’s Music Studio partnered on a social media promotion highlighting their popular $5 ice cream tokens. These tokens are frequently used by teachers as incentive rewards for students, making the collaboration a natural fit for my audience of educators, parents, and families.

These collaborations demonstrate my interest in creating authentic, community-focused partnerships that provide value to both the business and my audience.
